Two surprises at Cozumel. The first was the fact that we docked in town, not at the pier south of town. This conflicted with what the shopping guy told us and presented some minor problems for Theresa's shopping. The second was that it was completely overcast, so I wondered how our diving pictures would turn out. I'll get them developed in the next few days.
The diving was excellent. Ryan and I did the first two of our 4 certification dives with Luis at Dive Deep Blue. Various review web sites had divers giving them great reviews, and we certainly had no complaints. We saw a variety of sea creatures and may have managed to collect some of them on film.
Meanwhile, my wife took our daughters to Chankanaab park for the oldest to swim with the dolphins. This turned out to be one of those experiences that will provide a good memory for the rest of her life.
In addition the dolphin swim, Chankanaab also has hiking trails with Mayan statues.
There were also plenty of iguanas around, a delicacy known to the locals at chicken of the tree.
We didn't have much time to shop but did manage to buy a few things. Since the last time we were in Cozumel, they have added a shopping complex right at the town pier, with both a Senor Frog's and a Carlos & Charlie's. Parts of it are still under construction, but most of it was open.
