Once again someone pulled a fast one on Princess. Rather than docking at the cruise ship pier, we docked next door at the old bauxite loading dock. It was only a ten-minute walk to the shopping areas in town, but the way was littered by people trying to sell us jewelry, carvings, and yes, agricultural products.
We split our efforts today. Ryan went on the Canopy Adventure, where he voyaged thru the rainforest canopy while hanging from a tight steel cable (called a zip line). He thought it was an awesome adventure.
Theresa, the girls, and I took the River Tubing excursion. We had a short ride up the mountains in an old-style Land Rover with an interesting driver named Bishop. He and my youngest daughter traded riddles and he was rather impressed with her prowess. At the end of the ride, we switched to inner tubes for our float down the White River.
The current was fairly swift, and the setting was beautiful. I would love to have a river like this in my backyard. We passed a couple of rope swings but didn't stop to play. Several guys with cameras took pictures of us in strategic rapids.
We finished our ride and had an hour or so at a nice area to eat burgers, drink coffee or beer, and shop in a small craft market. After that, Bishop drove us back to the dock.
They offered digital photos of our experience. However, even though the cameras were capable of five megapixel images, the ones we purchased were smaller than two-megapixels. Rather than provide printed images, they burned them to CD.
