St. Thomas

We had nothing planned for St. Thomas, except shopping. In addition to the usual trinkets and gifts for those back home, we made a few major purchases. I managed to talk Theresa into replacing her aging watch, this time with a Citizen. While it's not an Eco-Drive watch, it should last her quite a few years. We bought Ryan a digital camera - Royal Caribbean had an excellent deal on a Canon, which included a case, 256Mb SD card, batteries, and a charger. And, finally, Theresa found a replacement wedding ring she really liked. Her original one had only a tiny diamond and no longer fit her finger. The new one has four diamonds set in a square and from any distance greater than a few inches looks like one large diamond.

I liked the downtown area because of its architecture. The walls on most buildings are built of stone and mortar and are several feet thick. This keeps the inside cool but tends to block all cell phone reception.

There were three larger ships in town that day - Radiance of the Seas, Carnival Valor, and Costa Mediterranea. Since all three were larger ships than ours, they got to dock at Havensight while we docked south of downtown at Crown Bay. As the taxi fare from downtown was the same to either dock, it really didn't matter much to us.

While the day started off cloudy, it ended with not a cloud in sight.
