Day Three - George Town, Grand Cayman

We woke up to find we had already anchored. After a quick breakfast, I grabbed the first tender to shore. I had some shopping to do - I knew what I wanted and where to find it. I got some rum, rum cakes, and some Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. I also found a few neat T-shirts. After bringing the swag back to the ship, I was ready for my shore excursion to Stingray City.

Stingray City is a shoal near the north side of Grand Cayman. For the past twenty years, people have been feeding stingrays there and the stingrays seem to like all the attention. The boat held about fifty people and got us to the shoal fairly quickly, and a lecture enroute told us what to expect and how to feed and touch the stingrays.

After leaving the boat, we found ourselves surrounded with stingrays.

The stingrays were a mix of males and females, and there were hundreds of them. If you wanted to feed them, a bucket with squid parts was available. I didn't bother with that as everyone else took care of it. Several of the tour guides showed us how to hold stingrays.

The only problem with this tour is that our time with the stingrays was way too short. This was one of the few shore excursions I've taken that I would happily take again.
