My main purpose in visiting Seattle was to show the family the joys of the waterfront area and Pike Place market. We made it to Seattle in time to visit the market before it closed. Travis and I had an excellent oyster dinner at Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar. The kids got a little cranky later in the evening so we didn't bother going up the Space Needle. I probably should have, as the weather was great and Mt. Rainier probably would have been awesome in the dying rays of the sun.
On our way up to Vancouver the next day, we stopped on Camano Island to visit a friend, Steve Roberts. Steve plans to recreate parts of Lewis & Clarke's expedition in a high-tech boat called a Microship. Since he's going the opposite direction (i.e., downstream), his expedition is named Clueless & Lark.
