Unfortunately, I was unable to take part in all of the Trek activities. Those that I did attend were a blast.
The guest celebrities were Wil Wheaton, Denise Crosby, and Ethan Phillips. Wil brought his comedy troupe, Ernest Borg 9. In addition to their own comedy routines, they also did improvization. I managed to attend most of these sessions but did not make it to the improv workshop.
I later spoke with Wil and his troupe in the Crow's Nest. It turns out that Wil is a fair dinkum techie. He forced himself to learn HTML, scripting, Cascading Style Sheets, DreamWeaver, and other technologies useful for creating state-of-the-art web sites. He's also a fan of Linux, and may appear at a future GeekCruise. One of his troupe, Travis Oates, was a network administrator in a former life. I was happy to find this out, as it seemed that most of the Trekkers were not necessarily techies.
Denise Crosby brought her 4-year old son, which took some of her time and attention. Theresa and I had a good time talking with her before dinner on the first formal night. Denise had a great sense of humor, which was fairly necessary against Wil and Ethan.
I didn't talk to Ethan much, but thoroughly enjoyed his stage style. He mentioned that he works much better with an actual script. However, his last-night presentation was absolutely hilarious. He used basic jokes available all over the Internet. The presentation was everything - we were basically rolling in the aisles!
We didn't participate in things like the Scavenger Hunt, but we should have...we could have done at least as well as those that did. I only knew a couple of the 20 trivia questions - we did much better in the ship's trivia contests.
