My Cruise Adventures |
KetchikanKetchikan is far enough south that there are no glaciers nearby. At one time, Ketchikan hosted the largest salmon fishing fleet in the world. Like Skagway, it also has a rather colorful history. Theresa and the girls went on a horse-drawn carriage ride, then Ryan and the girls went on a kids-only excursion that visited the totem village, a fish hatchery, and a raptor preserve. They all had an enjoyable time. Travis and I wandered around town while the girls took their ride. I found a Soapy's internet cafe right near the doc and hooked my laptop up to do email. Later, Theresa and I went shopping. One of Ketchikan's most beautiful areas is Creek Street - a deep clear creek lined with houses. Most of those houses are now shops, including a few with unique items such as spruce tip syrup, obsidian knives, and gold nuggets.
